The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) is the designated nodal agency. It acts as a single-window system for all solar projects, facilitating land allotment, competitive bidding, and subsidy disbursement.
Objective
The Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy 2022 was implemented to transform the state into a leader in renewable energy, targeting an ambitious 22,000 MW of solar power capacity by 2026-27.
- To reduce dependence on fossil fuels and achieve an "optimal energy mix" for the state.
- To provide reliable and sustainable power to all residents of Uttar Pradesh.
- To create a conducive environment for private sector investment in solar energy generation and storage.
- To train 30,000 youth as "Surya Mitras" for the maintenance of solar plants, promoting local employment.
Benefits / Subsidy
State Subsidy: Residential consumers receive ₹15,000 per kW, capped at ₹30,000 per consumer.
