Uttarakhand's first self-employment scheme 'Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Paryatan Swarojgar Yojna' was launched on June 1, 2002 with the aim of providing maximum self-employment in the tourism sector to the residents of Uttarakhand state and mainly the youth.
Objective
Since the formation of the state of Uttarakhand, the objective of the state government is to replace Uttarakhand as an international level tourist attraction in the world tourism map considering the immense potential of tourism in the newly created state.

Non-vehicular items: - Under this scheme, 33 percent maximum of Rs. 33.00 lakh in hilly areas and 25 percent maximum of Rs. 25.00 lakh in plain areas are approved by the Tourism Department as grant for non-vehicular items.
Vehicle items: Under the vehicle item which includes ordinary buses, taxis, maxis, etc., a provision has been made to provide a maximum of Rs. 25.0 lakh in hilly and plain areas at 10%.
However, a provision has been made to provide 30 percent but maximum state assistance of Rs 42.2 lakh for pushback-2 and 26-seater-28'42 bus/electric bus and push-back 2-2-seater and 50-seater 0'20'00) electric bus/air-conditioned bus. This arrangement will be allowed only on buses/electric buses which meet the prescribed criteria, and the number of buses/electric buses will be maximum 50 in any financial year.
Eligibility
- Be a native/permanent resident of the state.
- If the land is required for the implementation of the scheme, then the owner of the land or if the land is in the name of a close relative of the applicant, the land is accepted as a mortgage in the favor of priority security, but if the land owner participates with the applicant as a co-borrower or guarantor, then the amount of grant will be payable only to the applicant. However, even on leased land, the applicant can get the benefit of the scheme if the lease deed period exceeds the loan repayment period.

Application Process
Under this scheme, there is a provision to sanction loans to the selected applicants from National Banks, Rural Banks at the interest rates fixed by the loan bank as per rules.
